About Thermoelectric Coolers
1)  The thermoelectric cooler has a cold side and a hot side. Generally, the side with printed characters is the cold side, and the blank side is the hot side.
2) The thermoelectric cooler typically operates with a DC12V (direct - current) voltage. 
3) When testing the thermoelectric cooler without a heat sink installed, the power - on time should not exceed two seconds, otherwise it will be burned out.
4) The naming rule for thermoelectric cooler models consists of six parts. For example, TEC1 - 12706
Part 1: Represented by TE, it indicates a thermoelectric cooling component, which is the abbreviation of the English term "Thermo - Electric".

Part 2: It indicates the structural type of the thermoelectric cooler. Commonly, ceramic thermoelectric coolers (with a thermoelectric element cross - sectional area greater than 1 mm²) are represented by C. Small - sized ceramic thermoelectric cooling components, also known as micro - thermoelectric cooling components (with a thermoelectric element cross - sectional area ≤ 1 mm²), are represented by S. There is also a metallic structural type represented by M.


Part 3:   It represents the number of layers (stages) of the thermoelectric cooler, indicated by a single Arabic numeral. The number of layers of the thermoelectric cooler ranges from 1 to 6. The more layers there are, the greater the temperature difference.

Part 4:  It represents the number of pairs of thermocouples (the quantity of P and N junctions) of the thermoelectric cooler, indicated by three Arabic numerals, such as 127 pairs.

Part 5:   It represents the maximum allowable temperature - difference current value of the thermoelectric cooler, indicated by two Arabic numerals. For example, 06 represents a current of 6A. This current is the limit current under the condition of applying the limit voltage and heat dissipation. When the temperature of the cooling component rises, the current value will decrease.

Part 6:   It represents the surface condition of the thermoelectric cooler, indicated by no more than two English letters. No metallic coating is not indicated. A single - sided metallic coating is represented by T, and a double - sided metallic coating is represented by TT.
